spreading the word about LG

Well our warm weather week up here in LG has resulted in shedding of our 2+ foot snow base. it is kinda nice regaining a few of our lost parking spaces and also being able to reach our signboard again to put up new messages! But not to fear...i am sure there is plenty of cold and white stuff coming back very soon.

In the meantime, the LGRCC is on the road. We have teams of people at travel shows in NYC and also in PA. i love going to travel shows and setting up our booth to promote the Lake George region and all of our members. On my trip to PA i had to do a side track and swing by Springfield, MA so i could pick up our 2008 Four Season Vacation Guide which was hot off the presses and not ready in time to be shipped to our office before i left for the travel show. We will have them ready and in stock in our office beginning this coming week. as always they are available in our 24/7 lobby area. our new sized pull out map is chocked with new discount coupons too.

FYI:" there was a great travel article in the NY Times travel section on NYS Ski Areas. check out this link! http://travel.nytimes.com/2008/01/11/travel/escapes/11ski.html?ref=travel

Have a great rest of the weekend. This coming week i will post an update on some special event dates and info for 2008 including; Americade, Elvis Festival, ADK Nationals Car Show, etc.

I would appreciate it if people would bookmark this blog and also tell friends about it! i am starting to feel kinda lonely posting only by myself.

Lake George as a winter wonderland

Although we have been experiencing some unusually warm weather (mid-high 40's) over the past couple days our north country winter wonderland is still a beautiful sight. Snowmobilers have had a great time and through last weekend were still streaming accross our door going onto Prospect Mountain. Our chamber is a popluar spot since we also have a selection of snowmobile maps, travel guides, etc. right in our lobby area which is accessible 24/7. Please feel free to take advantage!!

Right now, the lake is starting to freeze in the smaller bays and along Million Dollar Beach on the southern shore. It looks like it will be some time--unless we get about a two week bitter cold snap-- before she will freeze over. Of course, that is EXACTLY what the Winter Carnival Committee is hoping for!! and so are we!

Winter Carnival is a great, family oriented event series that goes on every weekend in February. There is plenty for the whole family to do---or maybe just watch from a snuggly restaurant seat overlooking the lakefront--oh yes, and perhaps by the fireplace too!
More on winter carnival specifics in an upcoming post!
